COMPETITION’S GOAL
Soul of Virginia’s goal is to engage Virginia’s youth in telling the story of the Commonwealth from their cultural perspectives. Public high school students from Virginia’s diverse communities are to submit writings that reflect an insight for our current events, their linkage to past founding principles, yet reveals understanding and definition to legacy promises for the future. Their efforts demonstrate the contest’s timeliness and relevance for us all. Soul of Virginia gathers and distributes news about the African, Native American and Multicultural experience in Virginia.
COMPETITION ELIGIBILITY RULES
Competition is open to students who are Virginia residents and enrolled as high school students – public and charter, grades 9 – 12, in the school districts of Charles City, Chesterfield, Colonial Heights, Dinwiddie, Goochland, Hanover, Henrico, Hopewell, New Kent, Petersburg, Powhatan, Prince George, Richmond, Surry and Sussex.

SUBMISSION DEADLINE
Entries must be received between July 1, 2013 and November 1, 2013 and can be sent via snail mail or by email [PDF attachments only] to [email protected]. Entries postmarked or emailed after November 1st will be ineligible. Soul of Virginia is not responsible for lost entries. Please send an email requesting confirmation of your applicant being received. Entries are for this competition only and will not be returned.
